Technical info for volumes
Attention!
From the 1st of March 2019, all XCULT volumes will be produced with new colors! We have finally achieved a much better match between the colors of the holds and the volumes.
The RAL codes will remain the same!
ClosedCell Volumes
We can proudly say that XCULT is the inventor of the ClosedCell fiberglass volumes. Having a very clean and interesting design they quickly became one of XCULT`s most popular and recognizable products. |
Characteristics
MaterialThe body of our CCV is made of a composite from PE resin and fiberglass reinforcement. |
||||
TechnologyThe name of our ClosedCell volumes comes from the special technology we use for their production. The “body” of the volumes has a closed base and no periphery. This way the structural strength of the volumes doesn`t come from the number of thick layers of fiberglass but from the closed shape which is stronger, lighter and allows reduced number of fixation points. |
||||
|
||||
FrictionThe friction of our CCV is achieved by layers of quartz sand and PU paint. This is the most durable friction on the market and in comparison with the PE or especially the PU, it is practically indestructible. |
Colors
For the coloration of the ClosedCell volumes we use a very tough and durable polyurethane paint which makes the shoe marks very easy to clean. At the same time the paint is thin enough so it doesn`t influence the quality of the friction. We offer the CCVs in 10 standard colors and 3 fluorescent colors. |

Attention!Although the color codes (RAL numbers) are the same, a slight difference in the shade and density of the colors between the climbing holds and volumes is possible. The reason is that the coloration is achieved according to the different technology and the materials used in the production of our polyester holds, fiberglass and plywood volumes. |
FixationBased on the shape of the ClosedCell Volumes we have two types of fixation. The first type is fixation only with screws. The second type offers the possibility to choose fixing the volumes with M10 bolts or with screws only. |

|
Aluminum insertAll volumes with bolt-on option are integrated with aluminum insert which has a series of ribs. The insert has been developed specially to absorb and distribute the force of pressure from the bolt while tightening it and avoid breakage of the volume. The insert is suitable for both countersunk bolts and socket head bolts. |
|
PlugThis is our latest innovation. When we decided to offer volumes with two types of fixation we had to solve the problem of climbers using the hole of the bolt while climbing. This is why we have developed a special plastic plug to cover the bolt hole if you fix the volume only with screws. Unlike other similar products on the market we have designed a special place at the back of the volume to keep the plug when you don`t use it. This option is available for all ClosedCell volumes with bolt-on option. |

Recomendations
Bolt
When you choose a proper bolt for the fixation of the volume be sure the bolt`s length is enough to go through the T-nut.
Screws
Use only screws with 4,5 mm or 5 mm thickness. We recommend the use of screws without ribs on the back side of the screw head. Otherwise you risk to destroy the hole.
Cleaning
We advise cleaning the volumes with cold water or a jet wash. Don’t wash the holds with hot water, holds detergents or a steam jet wash if you want to preserve the friction and the original color brightness.
Tightening
Do not over tighten the volumes. Do not place the volumes on an uneven surface, because that can cause damaging of the screw holes when you are tightening them.
Fluor. color
Fluorescent colors are most suitable for indoor walls. We do not recommend the fluorescent colors for outdoor use because over time the brightness of the colors might change due to the excessive sunlight.
Plywood Volumes
We have a wide range of high quality plywood volumes. They are separated into symmetrical, asymmetrical and modular plywood volumes. Some volumes are offered with a flat design or dual texture. |
Characteristics
MaterialOur plywood volumes are made of 18 mm birch plywood. |
Colors
For the coloration of the Plywood volumes we use a very tough and durable polyurethane paint which makes the shoe marks very easy to clean. At the same time the paint is thin enough so it doesn`t influence the quality of the friction. We offer the plywood volumes in 10 standard colors and 1 fluorescent colors. |

Dual textureFor bigger variety of the texture and a real challenge for the climbers, some of our plywood volumes are offered with dual texture. |
T-nutsWe use zinc-plated steel T-nuts for M10 bolts with 8.8 hardness. You can order our plywood volumes with or without T-nuts. |

FixationAll plywood volumes can be easiliy fixed only with screws. |
Metal insertIt is a well-known fact that the holes for the screws are the weakest spot in the plywood volumes having in mind the number of times you have to screw and unscrew the volumes. In 2016 we found a solution using a special metal insert that eliminates the problem completely. Except the periphery, its special shape has also a cylindrical body that contacts directly with the surface of the climbing wall and withstand the force of the screw. |

Recommendations
Screws
Use only screws with 4,5 mm or 5 mm thickness. We recommend the use of screws without ribs on the back side of the screw head. Otherwise you risk to destroy the hole, even if there is a metal insert.
Cleaning
Clean the plywood volumes with a brush or air compressor only. Cleaning the plywood volumes with cold or hot water is not recommendable.
