Technical info for holds

Characteristics

Material

All of our climbing holds are made of Polyester resin with special fillers.

Friction

We have achieved friction with optimal resistance in time which is perfect for climbing gyms with high traffic. Our newest sets are designed with dual friction that offers rougher friction in the grip zone and finer friction in the zone of the thumb to make the use of the hold as a pinch more uncomfortable.

Colors

We produce our climbing holds in 10 standard colors and 4 fluorescent colors.

Attention!

Although the color codes (RAL numbers) are the same, a slight difference in the shade and density of the colors between the climbing holds and volumes is possible. The reason is that the coloration is achieved according to the different technology and the materials used in the production of our polyester holds, fiberglass and plywood volumes.

Weight

The design of XCULT holds is very often pushed to the limit for this material. In our range of holds we reduce the weight of the holds from size L to XXXL using hollow back technology reaching the lightest PE holds on the market.

Fixation

We offer three types of fixation for our climbing holds. The first type is the classic fixation with M10 bolt and one hole for screw which is recommendable in order to avoid rotation of the hold. The second type is fixation with screws only. And the third type offers the possibility to choose fixing the hold with M10 bolts or with screws only.

Aluminum insert

All new sets of holds are integrated with aluminum insert which has a series of ribs. The insert has been developed specially to absorb and distribute the force of pressure from the bolt while tightening it and avoid breakage of the hold. The insert is suitable for both countersunk bolts and socket head bolts.

Plug

This is our latest innovation. When we decided to offer holds with two types of fixation we had to solve the problem of climbers using the hole of the bolt while climbing. This is why we have developed a special plastic plug to cover the bolt hole when fixing the hold only with screws. Unlike other similar products on the market we have designed a special place at the back of the hold to keep the plug when you don`t use it. This option is available for all shapes from 2016 and 2017 for both hollow back holds and full cast holds.

Bolt

When you choose a proper bolt for the fixation of the hold be sure the bolt`s length is enough to go through the T-nut. All shapes with aluminum insert are suitable for both countersunk bolts and socket head bolts.

Screws

Use only screws with 4,5 mm or 5 mm thickness. We recommend the use of screws without ribs on the back side of the screw head. Otherwise you risk to destroy the hole.

Cleaning

We advise cleaning the volumes with cold water or a jet wash. Don’t wash the holds with hot water, holds detergents or a steam jet wash if you want to preserve the friction and the original color brightness.

Tightening

Do not over tighten the volumes. Do not place the volumes on an uneven surface, because that can cause damaging of the screw holes when you are tightening them.

Maintenance

Having in mind the specifics of the Polyester material (it is rigid but brittle) avoid dropping holds from heights in order to prevent breaking or chipping of the holds.

Fluor. color

Fluorescent colors are most suitable for indoor walls. We do not recommend the fluorescent colors for outdoor use because over time the brightness of the colors might change due to the excessive sunlight.
